Rigging Out The FX30 (Best Affordable Gear)

I recently purchased Sony's very popular FX30. This camera has become a fan favorite for delivering incredible image quality and professional features in a compact and affordable mirrorless form factor. The thing that i most enjoy about "micro cinema cameras" like this are its ability not only to be small, but also to become a real professionals tool when rigged out with extra components.

1. Neewer V Mount Battery

A V Mount battery allows you to power your camera and accessories for up to a full day of shooting.

2. Neewer Half Cage

   

   A camera cage gives you additional mounting points for attaching extra components like monitors, top handles, and mics. I opted for the half cage so that the grip was not obstructed.

   A battery hinge allows you to quickly move the battery out of the way in order to open or close the viewfinder screen.

6. SmallRig Camera Base Plate

   

A rod system allows for additional mounting in front of or behind the camera.

5. SmallRig 6 Inch 15mm Rods

I selected these 6 inch rods to allow for mounting of the battery hinge and follow focus while still maintaining a smaller rig overall.

   I selected the smallrig top handle for easier carrying and stability.

   I chose to use an offset plate to move the top handle forward and out of the way of the hot shoe mount.
